Those attempting to lose weight during meizitang
The signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism are well known: Putting on weight, confusion, thinning hair and feeling cold. The prescription (levothyroxine) is also standard.. But a third presumption - that hypothyroidism symptoms reverses weight gain - meizitang soft gel has just been blown from the water inside a new study, reported Medscape on October 21.
"We discovered that modest weight reduction following initiation of levothyroxine treatment for hypothyroidism happens in only about half of patients," said Elizabeth Pearce, MD, from endocrinology, diabetes, and nutrition section of Boston University Med school, Massachusetts.
Michael T. McDermott, MD, director of endocrinology and diabetes practice in the University meizitang of Colorado Med school, Aurora, admitted he was surprised at the findings.
"I would expect weight loss to happen but would expect [it] to become a lot more significant in individuals with more serious hypothyroidism and fewer, or no . . . in individuals with mild or very mild hypothyroidism, which the majority of the subjects in the present study had," he commented.
